What is Facebook and The Disadvantages of it

Social networking has become a common thing in our daily life now, there are a lot of social networking sites these days to connect with others. There are some social networking sites that made it so far and some did not. One of these popular social networks is Facebook which has over millions of members connecting with friends every day with new members joining daily. Facebook was founded on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg. First it was limited to only the people founded it then it gradually added support for students at various other universities and slowly to the whole world. Facebook now allows anyone who claims to be at least 13 years old worldwide to become a registered user of the website, although proof is not required which I think is quite dangerous. If you are not a user of Facebook yet, you will soon realize yourself the problems that Facebook can cause. Despite the good uses of Facebook, it has its disadvantages. Here are some that I can think of :

  • Intrusion
Rules are made to follow, without rules it is not safe anywhere, which means people are allow to do anything, so it is no surprise that Facebook is vulnerable to attacks, and several hackers actively alter people’s profile information, on daily basis. There are a lot of examples of this and a lot of people including ex Facebook users can tell you also that most of the time they saw changes in their profile, which was not made by them, somebody else did. Also, lots of pictures are uploaded on Facebook every day. Facebook does check every upload for viruses but remember Facebook or any other website can not check for all kind of viruses, particularly those which are recently released. On opening those virus-attached pictures, videos or games, you create danger to your data and your computer. So even though I suggest you not to use Facebook at all, but If you are using it please be careful of all the uncertain things there, be careful where you are clicking because that one single click can destroy everything for you.

  •  Scams
Many hackers have similar websites to Facebook. They continuously send emails to people asking to log in to their account to check new photos of their friends, or similar message. When the user opens the website, it looks 100% Facebook, then he enters his user ID and password, not knowing that his account details is being stolen by a hacker. The hackers make multiple accounts on Facebook, which makes more easier for them to trick you.Sometimes they might ask you to click on the link they sent you which can be extremely harmful to your computer and might ruin your Facebook profile, as it happened to me once. Also be careful of the advertisement at the side on Facebook, they are not what they seems like.

  • Distraction
Another disadvantage of Facebook is that once you are in, you start using it daily then you are getting addicted to it easily. There is no turning back unless something bad happen to you on Facebook and you learn your lesson. Once your inside, you get so distracted talking to your friends, liking and commenting on other's photos that you will get forget time and spend hours just doing random stuff on Facebook. After all Facebook is the place for people to connect, mostly people who have nothing to do or have a little free time, goes on Facebook. Everyone knows that they are wasting their time but they just can not stop it. So I suggest you to actually go out and hang out with people other than getting in this social networking site and getting in trouble.

Another thing I noticed is that communication is getting less and less, as we use Facebook more often,we think that we are interacting with others making new friends but in reality, it is nothing like that. I mean think about it how can someone fall in love with your profile picture? How can you believe whatever that person tell you about themselves is true? When they write LOL does that really means they are laughing out loud. They are not, not always.

So everyone think about it... Is Facebook really worth it, when you see a lot of flaws in it,? I mean there is a lot other ways to enact with others.... but is Facebook a secure way....?

Note: Do not get angry if you do not agree about what I wrote here. I just wrote this from my own personal view.
